Arsenal Renew Interest in Ademola Lookman
Arsenal Football Club has reportedly reopened discussions to sign Nigerian international Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, a year after initially showing interest in the forward.
The Premier League giants appear keen to revive their pursuit of the 27-year-old, whom they have long admired. Reports suggest Atalanta are seeking around €50 million for the player, including add-ons.
Lookman’s profile skyrocketed following his sensational hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League final, where he led Atalanta to a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, securing the club’s first major European title.
He had an outstanding 2023/24 season in Italy, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. His efforts were instrumental in Atalanta’s third-place finish in Serie A and their qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly eager to add more firepower to his squad, and Lookman—who previously played in England with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City—is seen as an ideal candidate due to his experience and versatility.
Atalanta acquired Lookman from RB Leipzig in 2022 for a fee of €10.85 million, which included bonuses and a sell-on clause. Since his arrival, he has contributed 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 appearances, becoming a central figure under manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
With Arsenal preparing for another aggressive transfer window, Lookman is back on their radar as they aim to mount a stronger title challenge.
