Army Captures Suspected Terrorist Linked To Emir’s Murder
The Nigerian Army has arrested a suspected terrorist and arms dealer, Bako Wurgi, also known as Baka NaGarba, accused of being behind the murder of the Emir of Gobir, Isa Bawa, in Sokoto State.
The operation, conducted on December 14 at 10 pm, followed intelligence reports that Wurgi was receiving treatment at a hospital in Shinkafi town, Zamfara, for injuries sustained during a clash with a rival group.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, revealed that the Army arrested Wurgi after discovering he had been transported to the hospital with multiple cuts and gunshot wounds.
The analyst reported that during the operation, two accomplices fled, but arrested another individual who assisted in transporting the suspect in a tricycle
Recall that the late Emir was abducted on July 9, in Sabon Birnin Local Government Area of Sokoto and was murdered on August 22 after alleged failed negotiations for his release.
Wurgi, according to sources reported by the Makama, played a key role in the kidnapping and subsequent killing of the late Emir.
Wurgi, an arms smuggler with international connections, is reportedly related to Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, through his grandfather.
Wurgi is reportedly being held at an undisclosed location, while a manhunt is underway for his accomplices
