APC Chieftain Boasts Party Will Have Overwhelming Victory In 2027
Honourable Adamu Aliyu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has boasted that his party will surprise many by overwhelmingly winning the 2027 general elections amid growing interest in the opposition, news.ng reports.
While acknowledging that his party may not emerge as the winner in all polling units across the country, he stated that the election is already done and dusted.
“That we know. We’re not telling you we’re going to win everywhere, landslides in Nigeria, like everywhere. But the election to us is done deal that APC is going to take over this country,” he said in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.
This comes as members of the opposition parties accuse the ruling party of sabotaging their efforts.
“One thing that a lot of people are now asking is, that don’t you dare, your party, disrupt the ADC. You’ve disrupted, and you’ve decimated the opposition enough. Leave the ADC alone, except if you want only Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC on the ballot. And that would be disastrous for our democracy,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Aliyu rejected the claims, saying, “I take exception to you or anybody who thinks that we are stopping them. No.”
He added, “One day here, I said it, we will put sand inside the Gari. That’s exactly what we’re doing. We’re not disrupting them. The way they put sand inside our Gari, I told you. That is the sand.”
He also claimed that the opposition had at some time lured some of their members into their camp.
“Look, they took away some members of our party. They started taking the bigwigs from us. We should not sit down and allow them to take everybody away,” he explained.
Amid the hostility between the two political divides, the APC chieftain stressed that democracy can only be strengthened with the presence of opposition.
“Now, if anybody is serious about opposition, please stay in opposition or oppose us. Because we want viable opposition. We want people to oppose us so that this country can get better,” he said.
