Anambra Govt, Stakeholders Meet on HIV/AIDS Control
The Anambra State Ministry of Health has held a three-day sensitisation meeting to plan better ways to control HIV/AIDS in the state.
The meeting was held in partnership with the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA).
It brought together health workers, government officials, and development partners.
The goal, according to the ministry, was to develop a strategic plan covering treatment, prevention, care, and support for people living with HIV.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, said there is a need to train and retrain health workers to improve the handling of HIV/AIDS cases.
Speaking, ANSACA Programme Manager, Dr Johnbosco Ementa, said the meeting aimed to create a sustainable plan for government-led HIV response.
He explained that the strategy would also help integrate HIV efforts with TB and malaria interventions.
“We want to align with the national response and ensure people living with HIV receive free treatment and care,” Ementa said.
The initiative is part of the state’s plan to achieve HIV epidemic control by the year 2030.
