Al Nassr In Talks With Bayer Leverkusen To Sign Boniface

Saudi Arabian Professional League club, Al Nassr, have opened transfer talks with Bayer Leverkusen for Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface.

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi club have officially approached Bayer Leverkusen to begin conversations for the Nigerian striker.

He wrote on X: “Understand Al Nassr have started official talks for Victor Boniface as new striker.

“Negotiations are underway with Bayer Leverkusen for the Nigerian striker to replace Talisca. The other candidate is Jhon Durán, but Aston Villa still insists on keeping him at the club.”

Last week, reports emerged in Germany that Bayer Leverkusen extended Boniface’s contract by another year until 2029, with a significant pay rise.

According to reports, the new deal reportedly includes a pay rise, doubling his previous salary of €3 million to €6 million per year (approximately N9.5 billion).

Despite the new deal, Boniface has been linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen, with the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan battling for his signature.

Boniface has been sidelined since November with a thigh injury before making a return against RB Leipzig last week.

The 24-year-old joined Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2023, and he played a pivotal role in leading the club to an historic Unbeaten title-winning season in the 2023-24 season.

He scored 14 goals and recorded eight assists, and he has already scored six goals this season despite missing two months of action due to injury.

Boniface has found it difficult to break into the team following the impressive form of Patrick Schick, who has been shouldering the goalscoring responsibilities for Alonso’s team.

He would have the opportunity to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, and Sadio Mane if he joined Al Nassr.

Al Nassr are currently in the third position in the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League with 35 points from 17 matches.
