Akwa Ibom State Police command says it has arrested one Cletus Effiong Bassey for alleged involvement in ritual activities and providing native charms and “bullet repellers” to armed robbers.
Police spokesperson in the State, DSP Timfon John who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the suspect aged 30 was arrested in his shrine at Nung Oku village, Uruan Local Government Area.
John said the a search in the suspect’s compound led to the recovery of one fabricated single-barrel gun and other firearms.
Parts of the statement in parts, “On July 29, 2025, at approximately 18:51 hours, Operatives acting on credible intelligence, apprehended One Cletus Effiong Bassey, a 30-year-old male, at his shrine in Nung Oku Village, Uruan LGA.
“Bassey is suspected of being involved in ritualistic activities, including providing native charms and “bullet repellers” to armed robbers. A subsequent search of his compound led to the recovery of one fabricated single-barrel gun.”
