Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as Senator

By John Alechenu

Abuja — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has formally declared her intention to seek re-election for a second term, citing wide consultations and sustained support from constituents and family.

The announcement was made during the Kogi Central Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Stakeholders’ Meeting, where party leaders and supporters gathered to deliberate on the future of the party in the district.

In a statement issued by her media team in Abuja on Monday, the lawmaker said her decision followed months of appeals and endorsements from across the five local government areas of Kogi Central.

“After due consultations and encouragement from my husband, I have accepted your calls to re-contest for a second term as your senator,” she said.

Her declaration comes amid growing endorsements from party faithful and community leaders over the past four months, signalling strong grassroots backing for her candidacy.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also stressed the need for unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging stakeholders to prioritise reconciliation and inclusiveness ahead of future elections.

“This is the time to bring everyone back home. We must reconcile with those who may have had issues, for the betterment of our party and success in the elections ahead,” she added.

Speaking at the event, Kogi Central PDP Zonal Chairman, Hon. Anthony Akuvada, commended the senator’s leadership, describing her as a transformational figure whose impact has been widely felt across the district.

“Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has redefined representation in Kogi Central. Her performance has been exemplary, from infrastructural development to human capital empowerment,” Akuvada said.

He also praised her commitment to inclusive governance, noting that her accessibility and consistent engagement with constituents have strengthened ties between leadership and the people.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s first tenure has been marked by interventions in education, women and youth empowerment, as well as infrastructural advocacy, earning her support across political and social divides.

The senator expressed appreciation to her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Otuoze Uduaghan, Alema of Warri Kingdom, describing him as a pillar of strength throughout her political journey.
