Air Peace saga: We’ve stepped down pilot involved in incident – Safety Manager

Air Peace has disclosed that it has stepped down the pilot involved in the Port Harcourt airport incident.

The Safety Manager of the airline, Capt. Godfrey Ogbogu, made this disclosure on Sunday while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television.

“In our internal investigation, we promptly stepped down the captain, who has not flown since the incident.

“Notably, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, has yet to share its findings on the drug test conducted on the Air Peace crew with us,” he said.

DAILY POST recalls that on July 13, 2025, an Air Peace aircraft veered off the runway while landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

The NSIB, in its preliminary investigation, revealed that the aircraft touched down 2,264 metres from the runway threshold, well beyond the recommended touchdown zone, and eventually came to a stop at 209 metres into the clearway.
