AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Super Eagles Drop Two Points Against Rwanda In Kigali
The Super Eagles of Nigeria played out a goalless draw with Rwanda in the second match of the 2025 Nations Cup qualifiers in Kigali on Tuesday.
The Eguavoen-led side failed to build on their impressive 3-0 win over Benin Republic in Uyo on Saturday with a drab performance away from home.
Eguavoen made one change to the team that defeated Benin Republic with Tom Dele-Bashiru replacing Alex Iwobi.
Ademola Lookman was presented with Nigeria’s first chance but the Rwandan goalkeeper was equal to the task as the Super Eagles aimed for an early goal.
The Atalanta forward thought he had given Nigeria the lead with a well-placed header in the 21st minute but the goal was ruled out for infringement in the box.
Substitute Victor Osimhen’s goal was ruled out for offside in the second half.
Rwanda goalkeeper, Fiacre Ntwari produced series of impressive saves to deny the Super Eagles and grab a solitary point for the hosts.
The Super Eagles have now picked up four points from two games in the Nations Cup qualifiers with two clean sheets.
Up next for the team is a clash against Libya on October 7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
