The African Democratic Congress (ADC) said late former Super Eagles goal keeper, Peter Rufai, was a true Nigerian icon.

This is contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the party, Mr Bolaji Abdullahi in Abuja, on Friday.

“Rufai, fondly known as Dodo Mayana was a true legend of Nigerian football.

“He was one of the finest goalkeepers to ever wear the green and white,” he said.

The ADC’s spokesman further stated that Rufai exemplified the brilliance, courage, and determination of the Nigerian spirit.

He said that with every save, kick and other opportunities he had to play, Rufai represented Nigeria and the with unmatched passion, skill, and grace.

Abdullahi extended the party’s condolences to Rufai’s family, loved ones, the Nigerian football community, and all who were touched by his legacy.

He prayed that his memory would continue to inspire future generations to strive, to serve, and to shine, just as he did.
