ADC Collapsing Under Its Own Contradictions – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the opposition coalition is collapsing under the weight of its own internal contradictions, defections, and ideological confusion.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Lagos State APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, mocked the ADC’s recent efforts to consolidate its coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the party as a travelling company of serial defectors.

“The ADC’s so-called coalition is nothing but a house built on sand – without shared vision, ideology, or leadership,” Oladejo said.

“What Nigerians are witnessing is the natural consequence of opportunistic alliances formed only to grab power, not to serve the people.”

The APC’s remarks come just two days after the ADC National Caucus in Abuja issued a directive to its coalition partners—including high-profile politicians from the Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and even the APC—to officially quit their respective parties and join the ADC as full members.

Among those named is former LP presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, who did not attend the meeting but reportedly sent his apologies and reaffirmed his “commitment” to the coalition project.

However, the APC dismissed such affiliations as political “bigamy,” accusing ADC leaders of maintaining dual loyalties in a bid to remain relevant.

“In the immortal words of the late Afrobeat king, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, this is nothing short of ‘confusion break bone,’” Oladejo added, alleging that many of the ADC’s supposed members are already reconsidering their involvement.

The ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed during a post-meeting briefing on Thursday that the “quit notice” issued to coalition partners was final, though no deadline was given.

But the APC insists this move is too little, too late.

“The recent by-elections that saw APC sweep to victory nationwide were already a referendum on the Tinubu administration. The electorate has spoken loudly, choosing performance and stability over confusion and disunity,” Oladejo claimed.

He added that while President Bola Tinubu remains focused on economic reforms and national development, the opposition is embroiled in “greed, mistrust, and shameless contradictions.”

Opposition figures are rallying behind the ADC as a platform to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.

The ADC’s sudden rise in prominence has reportedly unsettled the APC and some senior officials in Tinubu’s administration.

Political analysts note that the ADC’s attempt to build a united front with figures like Peter Obi and disillusioned lawmakers from major parties may represent a growing appetite for a third force.
However, the coalition needs to resolve internal issues and present a clear ideological identity to stand a chance of wrestling power from the APC.

“The truth remains: 2027 is not about ADC’s survival but about consolidating the gains of the Tinubu era. And by every indication—economic, political, and electoral – the APC is the only party standing firmly with the Nigerian people.

“The ADC’s implosion is no surprise. It is simply the law of nature catching up with a party that was never destined to last,” the APC said.
