The Vice-Chancellor Abia State University Uturu (ABSU), Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, has assured that his administration will prioritize the urgent provision of necessary facilities for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences to meet all required professional and National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation standards.

The Vice-Chancellor who gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Abia State Chapter, on Thursday added that the Faculty is among the highly subscribed programmes of the University and promised that his administration will build a befitting structure for the programme as well as provide other needs of the Faculty within available resources.

He thanked the PSN, Abia State Chapter, for their willingness to partner the University to raise a new generation of quality Pharmacists in Nigeria and encouraged their members to apply for academic vacancies in the Faculty that will soon be advertised.

Earlier, the leader of the team and Chairman, Steering Committee, ABSU Pharmacy Education, Professor Chibueze Ihekwereme on behalf of PSN, Abia State Chapter, explained that they came for advocacy visit to the Vice-Chancellor and subsequently will go to the Abia State Government to solicit support for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University.

While lamenting the small number of accredited Faculties of Pharmaceutical Sciences in South East Universities compared to other regions, he promised the willingness of PSN Abia State Chapter to assist the University through material donations and other support to ensure full professional and NUC accreditations as they come.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor J. U Ogbonna, expressed the appreciation of the Vice-Chancellor and Management to the team and prayed for the synergy to continue for mutual benefits of the University and the Pharmaceutical society.
