Abia Varsity Congratulates First Inductees Of Human Physiologists

The Vice Chancellor, Abia State University Uturu, Professor Ndukwe Okeudo, has congratulated the first set of 129 inductees of Human Physiologists of the University
Speaking during the 1st induction/swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Graduating Human Physiologists of Abia State University Uturu held at the University Auditorium, Professor Okeudo assured that the University will continue to train quality health care professionals that will drive the health programs of the government.
The Vice Chancellor represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Professor Emmanuel Akubugwo, used the forum to thank the Governor and Visitor to the University, Dr Alex C. Otti, for keeping his promises to the University and advised the inductees to remain good ambassadors wherever they find themselves.
He also thanked their parents for the sacrifices made to ensure their success assuring that their labour can never be in vain.
Also speaking, the President, Professional Association of Practicing Clinical Physiologists in Nigeria Mr Okeke Ifeanyi said Clinical Physiologists bridge the gap between basic Physiological Sciences and Clinical applications and urged the graduands to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the field of practice.
In their speeches, the Provost College of Medicine and Health Sciences ABSU Professor Chuks Kamanu, represented by the Deputy Provost , Professor Azubuike Nwankwo and the Head, Department of Physiology, Dr Eberechukwu Mbanaso, said the pioneer inductees have been equipped with deep understanding of the body’s intricate systems and the delicate balance that sustains life .
Delivering the Keynote address, a Professor of Clinical and Experimental Physiology and Biomedical Engineering, Professor Arthur Chuemere regretted that Physiology education brought in 1948 was not designed to provide the requisite professional development opportunities for career clinical Physiologists in the Nigerian workforce as obtained in developed countries, but added that with the new technological advancement all over the world, human physiologists now have the opportunity to be at the center of all medical practises.
Highpoints of the 1st induction/swearing-in ceremony were the administration of induction oath on the graduands and the cutting of induction cake.
