The Abia State government through the state Harmonized Task Force (ASHTF) has taken decisive action following the brutal assault on one of its operatives who was attacked while lawfully impounding a vehicle obstructing traffic.

The incident, which occurred in front of a local supermarket, involved the supermarket owner allegedly inciting a group of young men to assault the officer.

In response, ASHTF has sealed the supermarket pending a full investigation and has demanded that the owner present himself to account for his actions.

The Taskforce therefore reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its operatives and maintaining law and order, warning that further attacks will be met with the full weight of the law.

In a similar development the Aba Area Coordinator of the Taskforce, Chief Uche Work has unsealed the Aba GSM market which was sealed by miscreants who demanded money from the traders.

According to the traders who had just moved to the GSM Market from Ekeoha Market, they were asked to pay N350,000 if they wanted to display their goods in front of their shops.

They also informed that the miscreants told them that if they don’t pay, someone else would be placed on rent in front of their shops.

Addressing the market leaders the Zonal Coordinator Zone C, of the Taskforce, Dozie Enyinnaya, reminded the traders that this kind of unfair practice has no place in New Abia.

He also assured them that the government was on their side.

He stated that, “No one should bring back the bad habits of the old Abia to the new Abia.

“Policies that hurt people must stop. Trying to make money in illegal ways from struggling traders will not be allowed anymore.”
