The Secretary to the State Government of Abia State, Professor Kenneth Kalu, has congratulated the Umuahia District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for winning a trophy during the March Past event at the recently concluded ICAN Annual Accountants Conference held in Abuja.
Professor Kalu gave the commendation while receiving a delegation of the Umuahia District ICAN members, led by the Chairman, Mr. Ude Obasi Ogbu, in his office at the Government House, Umuahia.
He praised the team for bringing pride to the state and encouraged them to remain ambassadors of integrity, excellence, and professionalism.
The SSG, who is also a proud member of the Institute, urged ICAN members to maintain a healthy lifestyle and uphold the values of accountability, transparency, and service to society.
He emphasized the importance of professionals like accountants in shaping a decent and responsible society, and called on them to support the ongoing reforms of the Governor Alex Otti-led administration.
In his remarks, Mr. Ude Obasi Ogbu explained that the visit was to officially present the trophy to Professor kalu as a mark of honor and to express appreciation for the government’s support, particularly in sponsoring their participation at the national conference.
Mr. Ogbu commended Governor Alex Otti for the visible strides in infrastructure and good governance across the state, describing them as critical steps towards sustainable development.
