Abia Govt Directs PHCDA To Identify Healthcare Centers For Vaccine Distribution
The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has directed the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) to identify all Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) and their precise locations across the 17 LGAs of the state to improve health care delivery.
This according to Engr Emetu, is to streamline the distribution of vaccines and medical supplies to ensure even coverage, especially in rural areas.
The deputy Governor gave the directives during a crucial meeting with the State Task Force on Immunization and Primary Health Care held in his office, Government House, Umuahia.
He emphasized that efficient budgeting is essential for the successful execution of government policies across all sectors.
“Proper allocation of resources remains the backbone of impactful governance,” Emetu remarked, underscoring the importance of financial planning in healthcare management.
Addressing the environmental aspect of public health, the Deputy Governor advocated for intensified sensitization programs to promote cleanliness and hygiene.
He reassured stakeholders that the state government remains committed to infrastructural development, promising better roads and the provision of vehicles to enhance healthcare access, especially in remote communities.
In his speech, the Executive Secretary of the PHCDA, Dr. Kalu U. Kalu, expressed gratitude to the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his unwavering support of the healthcare sector.
Dr. Kalu pledged to address the challenges encountered during the recent immunization campaign and optimize future efforts.
Also contributing, the World Health Organisation (WHO) Country Representative, Dr. Alkasim M. Jibrin, and UNICEF’s Mr. Ephraim Chukwu lauded the state government for prioritizing healthcare.
They called for continued collaboration, emphasizing the need for state support in their outreach programs aimed at enhancing public health.
