Abia Govt Assures Oil Communities Of Equal Development

The General Manager of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Dr Joshua Onyeike has reiterated the state government resolve to work assiduously for the overall development of the Oil producing communities, especially the Owaza community, which is the largest Oil Producing community in the State.

Dr Onyeike who stated this in his various meetings with community leaders of Owaza and Electricity Committee of the LGA over the on going electricity project in Ukwa LGA, noted that the Commission under Dr Alex Otti has continued to give priority attention in its intervention activities to the oil producing communities especially the Owaza community because of its strategic position in the oil production and assured that no community will be left out in the electricity project.

The ASOPADEC General Manager said that the Commission is funding the project in line with the directives of the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, explaining that he is working in collaboration with the electricity committee of the area to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of the project as promised by the Governor.

Dr Onyeike charged the traditional rulers and other community leaders to be cautious of unguided information and sensitize the people on the need for peace and shun acts of backbiting but to support in the efforts towards successful executing of the electricity project and other developmental projects in the area.

He also urged the electricity committee, led by its Secretary Dr. Goodluck Eleogu to be relentless in their genuine commitment to service and assured them of his ceaseless support to deliver.

Earlier in their speeches, Eze Obioma Nwogu of Etitioha Owaza, Eze Ikemefula Ukaegbu of Isietitioaha and Chief Maxwell Nwagbara, Traditional Prime Minister of Ipu West in Owaza community said that they came to get clarification on the issues concerning the on going electricity project in Asa land and the place of Owaza in the project and applauded the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for matching his words with action in his promise and urged the General Manager of the Commission to sustain the tempo of his intervention activities in the oil producing communities while promising to give their continuous support to the Commission.

In a vote of thanks, the Traditional Prime minister of Igiriukwu community in Owaza, Dr. Uche Nwele thanked the general manager for making out time to receive the community leaders and expressed satisfaction with the explanations of the general manager over the ongoing electricity project.

On his part, the Secretary of the Electricity Committee, Dr. Good Luck Elogu, said that they are determined to give their best in serving and assured of transparency and accountability.
