Abia Begins Recruitment Of Teachers, Opens Website For Applicants

The Abia State Government has officially announced the recruitment of NCE and Graduate Level Teachers for public primary, secondary, and technical colleges in the state.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

According to the release, “The general public is hereby informed that the Abia State Government is recruiting NCE and Graduate Level Teachers across major subject areas for Public Primary, Secondary, and Technical Colleges in the state.”

The application process is fully online and free of charge, with candidates required to submit their applications via the ministry’s website, within two weeks of the announcement.

Highlighting the next steps, the ministry noted, “Shortlisted candidates will be notified by SMS and/or email and invited for a test. Only candidates who are successful in the test would be invited for an oral interview/micro teaching practicum.”

Eligibility and Key Requirements

The press release provided specific guidelines for interested applicants:
• “Applicants must be below 45 years as of the date of this publication – 29th January 2025.”
• Both Abians and non-Abians residing in the state are eligible to apply.
• Candidates with physical or medical disabilities are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates with NCE only can only be deployed to teach in primary schools.

The release further advised applicants to include their academic qualifications during the application process and added that “registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) will be an added advantage.”

According to the press release, Successful candidates would be deployed to schools across the state, including rural and riverine areas.
