Abakaliki In Darkness As Hoodlums Vandalise Udemezue 11KV Feeder

Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, and its environs have been thrown into darkness after suspected hoodlums vandalised the Udemezue 11KV Feeder in the early hours of Sunday.
The Head of Corporate Communications, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, Mr Emeka Eze, announced this in a release.
He stated that, “The vandalism which was discovered by our fault men on patrol following the abnormal outage on the feeder at 02:40am took place at the source of the feeder where about 16 metres of underground 150mm2 x 3core armored underground cable were carted away by the vandals.”
He said the development resulted in power outage in over 70 public and private transformers serving EEDC’s numerous customers under the feeder.
He mentioned some of the areas affected as Oroko-Onuoha, Udensi, kpirikpiri, Ogbaga Road, New Layout, Udemezue, Low Cost Housing Estate, Hilltop Road, Amikaba, Siren Hotel, Man City Hotel, Muchels Hotel , De Pablo Hotel and Unity FM radio station.
Eze appealed to electricity consumers in the affected area to be patient as efforts were ongoing to replace the stolen/damaged items.
According to him, “Power supply will be restored as soon as repairs/replacement are completed.
“EDC remains committed to delivering improved services to her esteemed customers.”
