Senator Sunday Karimi, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.
Karimi made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lokoja and shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The lawmaker attributed his support to the substantial attention Kogi State has received in areas of infrastructure and human capital development under the Tinubu administration.
He noted that the Tinubu administration has recorded significant achievements in the state, including the dualisation of key roads like the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene and Okene-Auchi-Benin highways, as well as the rehabilitation of the Kabba-Isanlu-Egbe-Ilorin road.
“The administration has also resumed work on these projects, which will improve the lives of residents in host communities and road users nationwide.
“Additionally, the 614-kilometer Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project, initiated in 2020, has achieved 75 per cent completion under President Tinubu’s watch.
“Kogi State is expected to benefit significantly from this project,” he said.
Karimi emphasised that Kogi has no ‘Plan B’as a state and would ‘resolutely’ support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“We will stand resolutely with and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the man we know. There will be no equivocation, no dithering about this resolve,” he stated.
The senator urged doubters to “smell the coffee,” indicating that the confidence of Kogi people in Tinubu’s leadership.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Karimi’s endorsement joins a growing number of voices supporting Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.
NAN also reports that, in recent times, APC governors have publicly declared their support for Tinubu in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
