2027: Again, Ahmadu Foundation Postpones Tinubu Administration Assessment

For the second time, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has postponed its two-day interactive session meant to evaluate the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and foster transparency and accountability in governance.

Initially slated for May 20 and 21, 2025, the much-anticipated session was rescheduled to June 24 and 25. Now, it has been shifted again to July 1 and 2, 2025.

A statement issued by the office of the Director-General of the Foundation in Kaduna on May 20, 2025, and obtained by THE WHISTLER cited the ongoing Hajj operations across the country as the reason for the initial delay.

The statement had noted, “The programme has been shifted to June 24 and 25, 2025, due to Hajj. We have already commenced issuing invitation letters for the new date.

“I suggest we wait until mid-June before releasing a press statement. The content of the statement will remain the same except for the date change.”

However, in another statement titled, “Important Update: Rescheduling of Government-Citizens Engagement Session,” and sighted by our correspondent in Kaduna on Monday, the Foundation’s Director-General, Abubakar Gambo Umar, announced yet another change.

He said, “We wish to inform you that the Government-Citizens Engagement session originally scheduled for June 24 and 25, 2025, has been rescheduled to July 1 and 2, 2025.”

The Foundation’s initiative comes alongside a similar move by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), which recently disclosed plans to set up a special committee to assess the impact of President Tinubu’s policies, projects, and programmes on northern Nigeria.

The Chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, revealed this during a meeting in Kaduna.

He stressed the North’s resolve to back only politicians and parties committed to promoting its interests.

Dalhatu said, “We have received proposals from elders recommending the establishment of a special committee to conduct a detailed study of the government’s policies, projects, and programmes. The committee will evaluate their impact across the country, particularly in northern Nigeria.”

Reiterating the Forum’s stance, he added, “All politics is local. Northern Nigeria will remain faithful not to specific politicians or political parties but to those who genuinely care about our regional interests and are committed to promoting and protecting them.”
