President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday presided over a session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It was gathered that the meeting, which included Vice President Kashim Shettima and members of the federal cabinet, marked the beginning of groundwork for the 2026 national budget.
Ahead of the council’s deliberations, President Tinubu administered the oath of office to Nnana Uzokalu, newly appointed Commissioner representing the South-East in the National Assembly Service Commission.
The President also led a moment of silence in honour of the late Caleb Olubolade, a former Minister of Special Duties under the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
In a related development, the President is scheduled to meet with members of the National Economic Council (NEC) later in the day. As of press time, the specific agenda for the NEC meeting had not been made public.
The NEC, chaired by Vice President Shettima, is composed of the 36 state governors and other key economic policy stakeholders.
