2025 UTME: JAMB Withholds 39,834 Results, Releases 1.9 Million

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ish-aq Oloyede, during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, the results of 1,911,551 candidates were released, with 39,834 results unreleased due to various reasons.

“A total of 39,834 results remain unreleased. Of these, 1,426 results are under scrutiny and processing,” he said.

He urged candidates who want to check their scores to text “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 with the same phone number used during registration.

Oloyede added that JAMB is reviewing cases of candidates with invalid fingerprints and underage candidates who sat for the exam.

“Out of the total number of 2,030,862 candidates registered for the 2025 UTME, 1,957,000 were successfully verified for the examination, 71,705 were absent, and a total of 2,157 candidates’ fingerprints were rejected by the machines as invalid.

“This failure was beyond the acceptable normal margin of failure. Subsequent discoveries in this regard indicated that a number of the candidates whose fingers were unrecognised had one question of registration infraction or another to answer.

“Each of these cases would be reviewed and determined on its merit. Of the 41,027 registered underage candidates, 40,260 sat for the examination, whose UTME results are being isolated for further tests to identify the normally few exceptional candidates,” he said.

JAMB had earlier revealed that out of 40,247 underage candidates who were permitted to demonstrate their exceptional abilities in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), only 467 (1.16 per cent) achieved scores that meet the threshold for exceptional ability.

The UTME results analysis, which was posted on JAMB’s X Platform on Monday, also showed that a total of 1,955,069 candidates sat for the examination.

In terms of overall performance, only 0.63% of candidates scored 300 and above, with 4,756 candidates scoring 320 and above and 7,658 scoring between 300 and 319.

According to the report, the majority of candidates scored lower, with 50.29 per cent scoring between 160 and 199 and 24.97 per cent scoring between 140 and 159.
