10 Injured As Deeper Life Church’s Bus Crashes In Lagos
No fewer than 10 people sustained varying degrees of injuries on Thursday in an accident that occurred on Otedola Bridge, inward 7-Up, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The victims, comprising three adult males and seven adult females, were rushed to the Trauma Center for immediate medical attention.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred when a long bus belonging to the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, lost control and crashed into a stationary truck.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, attributed the cause of the crash to brake failure.
According to Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency received a distress call at 6:40 a.m. and swiftly deployed its response team to the scene.
“Upon arrival at 0650hrs, LASEMA’s Tiger Response Team from Tiger Base Alausa, discovered a branded long bus (name withheld), registration number MUS-176XC, had crashed into a stationery 40ft container truck from behind.
“Investigations conducted by the Agency’s Tiger Response Team revealed that the accident long bus driver lost control of the vehicle on motion and crashed into the stationary truck as a result of brake failure,” Oke-Osanyintolu explained.
He further stated that passengers who escaped the incident unhurt were transferred to another bus to continue their journey.
This accident occurred less than 24 hours after at least five people sustained serious injuries in a crash on Christmas Day at Iyana-Era, inward Agbara, along the Mile 2-Badagry Expressway in Lagos.
The Christmas Day crash involved two commercial buses. It was gathered that one of the buses, which was speeding toward Agbara, suffered a brake failure, leading to a collision with another bus that was stationary and loading passengers by the roadside.
