The FIFA World Cup 2026 is less than one year away, with 48 nations set to descend on North America next summer for the biggest competition in international football.
The tournament is taking real shape following the October international break as several teams booked their plane ticket.
Here’s everything we know about the draw and which teams will be in it.
When is the World Cup draw taking place?
The final draw will be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC on 5 December 2025.
In the new, expanded format of the competition, 48 nations will be drawn into 12 four-team groups. They will all vie for a place in the new round of 32.
Only 42 of the participating teams will have been confirmed by then, with the final six slots to be decided in the UEFA and inter-confederation play-offs in March 2026.
