Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City – Match preview and team news

Manchester City continue their pursuit of the Premier League title on Sunday with a daunting trip to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur.

The fixture represents a critical juncture in the campaign for both sides. For Pep Guardiola, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium remains a persistent stumbling block. The Spaniard has lost more league games against Spurs than any other opponent in his career. However, City arrive with renewed confidence. They can move back to within four points of leaders Arsenal with a win. Conversely, pressure mounts on Thomas Frank. While his side excels in Europe, they currently endure a dismal run of five Premier League matches without a win.

Team News

Tottenham Hotspur

Thomas Frank has declared centre-back Micky van de Ven “touch and go” after he missed the midweek trip to Germany. In a major boost, Dominic Solanke is ready for his first Premier League start in six months following a goalscoring cameo against Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Spurs are still missing senior talent, including Pedro Porro, James Maddison, and Mohammed Kudus. Yves Bissouma and Conor Gallagher are available again after being ineligible for European duty.

Manchester City

The Cityzens will be without winger Jeremy Doku, who is sidelined for roughly two weeks with a hamstring injury sustained against Galatasaray. On a positive note, Marc Guéhi and Antoine Semenyo are available after missing the Champions League tie due to eligibility rules. Rodri also returns from suspension, while Rúben Dias is scheduled to return to training on Monday.

Form

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs are currently enduring a difficult domestic drought, winless in their last five Premier League matches (D3 L2). Their recent league results include a 2–2 draw at Burnley and a 1–0 defeat to West Ham. Notably, Thomas Frank currently has the lowest points-per-game record (0.82) of any Spurs boss in Premier League history at home. However, they have historically been City’s “Kryptonite,” with Guardiola losing eight league games against them.

Manchester City

City arrive in strong form following a 2–0 midweek win over Galatasaray and a dominant 4–1 victory over Everton. Notably, Erling Haaland ended a nine-game run without an open-play goal during the week. Despite their overall quality, City’s away form has shifted; they have averaged 1.53 points per game away from home over the last two seasons, a significant drop from the 2.13 PPG averaged between 2022 and 2024.

Predicted Lineups

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted XI: Vicario; Spence, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Palhinha, Gallagher; Odobert, Simons, Tel; Solanke

Manchester City Predicted XI: Donnarumma; Nunes, Khusanov, Guéhi, O’Reilly; Rodri; Semenyo, Reijnders, Silva, Cherki; Haaland
