Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, as the club prepare to make their first transfer of the summer.
Spurs have reached a verbal agreed on the signing of Senesi, who is available as a free agent. An agreement has been reached between all parties with a four-year contract in North London set to be finalised.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side are now pushing to wrap up the deal after securing their top-flight status with a 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday.
There is rival interest from European clubs, with Liverpool among those to have tracked Senesi’s situation, but journalist Matte Moretto has said Spurs are confident of completing a deal.
Senesi will arrive as a potential replacement for Cristian Romero, who is expected to leave. The former ranked third in the Premier League for interceptions last season and announced his exit earlier this month.
Speaking about his departure, Senesi told afcb.co.uk: “From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this club. I’m proud of everything we achieved over the last four years and I’m grateful for the support the fans have always given me.
“AFC Bournemouth will always hold a special place for me and I will look back at my time here with fond memories. For now, there are still two big games left of the season and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”
