Salah 'emotional' reflecting on Liverpool 'connection'

Mohamed Salah has said he feels emotional when he speaks about his ‘connection’ with Liverpool.

Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after nine record-breaking seasons with the Reds. The Egyptian has scored 257 goals in all competitions, the third-most in Liverpool’s history, and has won a wealth of trophies that includes two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

A recent injury threatened to ruin his Anfield farewell, but Salah has confirmed he will be back before the season’s end.

Speaking to Steven Gerrard during an interview with TNT Sports, Salah was asked whether he would make the final home against Brentford on May 24th.

“Yeah, for sure. The injury is fine. Definitely. I probably will be [back] before that, probably.”

Gerrard asked Salah about his relationship with the Liverpool fans ahead of his final game, with the 33-year-old admitting his connection with the club has exceeded all expectations.

“Incredible. I never imagined I would be close to somebody like this.

“I feel so emotional when I speak about them or about the city. The connection between us is incredible.

“If you give it all on the field, they will love you anyway. They know that I gave it all, I’ve been professional all my career and tried to encourage the guys: ‘Leave it all on the field and the fans will appreciate it.’”
