Marcus Rashford has admitted it has been difficult to perform consistently due to the inconsistent environment of his club career.
Rashford joined Barcelona in the summer on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United and has made a positive start to his time in Spain. The 27-year-old has three goals and four assists in just seven starts, with Barcelona reportedly keen to exercise the permanent option in the deal.
Rashford’s upturn in form has earned him a recall to the England squad, having been a noticeable omission from the group for Euro 2024.
He admits he is keen to find stability on and off the pitch, after an up-and-down period. At Manchester United, he had eight different managers, including interim bosses, since his debut in 2016.
“I feel like I’ve been in an inconsistent environment for a very, very long time. So it’s even more difficult to be consistent,” Rashford told ITV Sport.
“I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game. And yeah, I’m looking to do that. Obviously, I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.
“You know, when people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything, not just sports, you need consistent variables like in your life and in the way you train, and we’ve just had so many changes so far in my career.
“But, like I said, I have to look forward, and that’s definitely one of the things that I’d want to put right and improve on, to be at my best more often.
“Because when I’m at my best, I really enjoy everything about the sport, so, yeah, being there is a special thing for me.”
