Neville admits Man United commentary balance difficult

Gary Neville

Gary Neville has said he ‘maybe doesn’t get the balance right’ when commentating on former club Manchester United.

Neville made 602 appearances for Manchester United during a decorated one-club career at Old Trafford, in which he won eight Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies among his honours.

Since moving into punditry, Neville has been criticised for his views on United, while working for Sky Sports.

Speaking to former teammate Rio Ferdinand on his podcast, Neville was asked how he feels about comments that he is less passionate about, and overly critical of, the Red Devils.

“Do I want City to win the league? I absolutely don’t want City anywhere near the league title. I’ll say it on here now. I don’t want Liverpool or City to ever win a game of football,” Neville said.

“But do you know something? To be a professional and do the very best and sometimes maybe I don’t get the balance right with United. United are the hardest games I do.

“People might think that i’m more critical of United when they don’t play well. The balance maybe I’ve just not got it right.”
