Manchester United keen to avoid Elliot Anderson bidding war

Manchester United do not get into a bidding war with Manchester City for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer.

Anderson is a leading target for both Manchester clubs heading into the summer window, following an outstanding season at the City Ground.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the most impactful midfielders in the Premier League. This season, Anderson ranks among the top-performing players for tackles won, crosses, and fouls drawn.

He has earned a regular place in the England squad as a result, winning seven caps since his debut in September.

Forest are braced for bids this summer and value Anderson at around £100m. Manchester City are the frontrunners to sign the midfielder, and Manchester United are prepared to explore alternatives if the asking price gets too high.

ESPN are reporting that United are not prepared to enter a bidding war with City for Anderson, with other options on the table.

Among them are Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali.

Anderson wants his future sorted before this summer’s World Cup, though any negotiations will wait until the conclusion of the campaign. Forest are battling against Premier League relegation and face Aston Villa in the Europa League semi-finals tonight. Interested clubs are respectful of their situation.
