Everton agree £24m deal for Chelsea’s Tyrique George
Everton have agreed a deal worth up to £24m to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park, doing enough to convince David Moyes he was worth a permanent move.
The Toffees have restructured the original terms. Everton held an option to buy George outright for £25m, but chose not to trigger it. According to the BBC, they instead negotiated a lower upfront fee of £18m, with a further £6m in add-ons.
Those bonuses are tied to success on the pitch. The additional payments depend on European qualification and George’s number of appearances, while Chelsea have also inserted a 15% sell-on clause to protect their long-term interest.

His loan return was modest in the numbers. George made 11 appearances for Everton, starting just once, and failed to score or assist. His energy and work-rate, however, left a strong impression on the coaching staff.

Moyes made his admiration plain. The Everton boss described George as “an excellent boy with an excellent work-rate” at the end of his initial spell. That endorsement paved the way for the permanent deal now taking shape.
George had been available for some time. The academy graduate held talks with RB Leipzig last summer, while a £22m move to Fulham collapsed on deadline day in September 2025. His minutes at Chelsea dwindled after the club’s heavy spending on forwards.
He is set to become Everton’s second summer signing. George follows Hayden Hackney, who arrived from Middlesbrough in a £16m deal, while Merlin Rohl has made his loan from Freiburg permanent.
Subject to personal terms and a medical, George will begin pre-season as an Everton player, hoping regular football can unlock his considerable potential.
