Chelsea boss Rosenior called ‘inspiration’ for English coaches

Calum McFarlane has called new Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior an inspiration for young English coaches.

Rosenior was appointed as Chelsea head coach on a six-year deal this week, joining from French club Strasbourg.

The 41-year-old began his coaching career with former club Brighton’s u-23 team, before spells at Derby County, Hull City and Strasbourg.

Rosenior led Strasbourg to European qualification last season and has earned admirers at BlueCo, who own both Chelsea and the Ligue 1 outfit.

McFarlane, who took charge of Chelsea in an interim role against Manchester City last weekend, believes Rosenior’s route to Stamford Bridge should inspire academy coaches across England.

“I’m sure all young English coaches with an academy background, regardless of who they support, will in some way be rooting for Liam,’ said McFarlane said at his pre-match conference on Tuesday.

“It is really inspirational for young academy coaches to see that, somebody getting a job of that profile. We all hope he does really well.”
