Aston Villa battle AS Roma for Garnacho signing
Aston Villa are in negotiations to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea.
Unai Emery has made a move for Garnacho as Aston Villa target a left-sided forward, following Morgan Rogers’ record £117m move to Chelsea.
Rogers’ arrival has further pushed Garnacho down the pecking order with Chelsea willing to sanction his sale for a fee of around £42.7m.
Villa’s preference is a loan deal, though Chelsea want an obligatory purchase clause included to allow his exit.
AS Roma have already had an offer turned down with the Italian side’s permanent fee not enough to satisfy Chelsea.
Garnacho joined Chelsea for £40m from Manchester United last summer and scored eight goals in 43 games for the Blues.
However, he does not feature in Xabi Alonso’s plans for the new season and has not returned for pre-season, as he weighs up his options. According to Sky Sports, Garnacho also has suitors in the Saudi Pro League.
Aston Villa are also understood to be considering Chelsea teammate Nicolas Jackson in a separate deal.
