Amorim says AC Milan ‘bigger’ challenge than Man United job
Ruben Amorim has said the challenge of reviving AC Milan is “even bigger” than the job at former club Manchester United.
Amorim has taken charge at the Italian side this summer, with the 41-year-old replacing Max Allegri at the San Siro.
Allegri was sacked after Milan endured a poor run-in in Serie A to miss out on Champions League qualification.
Milan have won only one Scudetto in the last 15 years and Amorim has admitted he has inherited another huge challenge.
The Portuguese coach struggled during his 14 months at Manchester United, in which the club endured their lowest-ever Premier League finish of 15th in 2024/25.
Despite that, Amorim called Milan an ‘even bigger’ challenge than the one he left at Old Trafford in January.
“If you see my old interview that I gave, it is a club that is really special to me,” Amorim said.
“It is a big challenge. I promised myself after the last one [Manchester United] that I would choose a smaller challenge.
“But I am here – and [the challenge] is even bigger.”
