Content creator and media personality King Mitchy has urged young Nigerians involved in internet fraud, popularly known as Yahoo, to abandon the practice and acquire legitimate skills.
Mitchy made the call in a video shared on social media, where she claimed that internet fraud was no longer as financially rewarding as it used to be.
According to her, some young men who previously depended on internet fraud are now struggling to meet their financial obligations, including paying rent, and are searching for alternative sources of income.
“Yahoo no dey go again. Yahoo no dey pay again,” Mitchy said, while encouraging young people involved in the practice to learn useful skills. She also appealed to girlfriends of men involved in internet fraud to encourage them to develop legitimate means of earning money rather than pressuring them to maintain an expensive lifestyle.
Mitchy advised young women not to depend solely on men for expensive gifts, while encouraging aspiring Yahoo boys to consider legitimate careers and businesses.
