The 17th Headies Awards will be held on April 5, 2025, in Lagos Nigeria.

The date was revealed by the Headies Executive Producer Mr. Ayo Animashhin in a statement released on Monday, January 20.

He shared that “This year’s edition is packed with an extraordinary lineup of events, culminating in a week-long celebration of the industry’s growth and artistic ingenuity.”

Activities surrounding the 17th Headies are set to kick off on the 29th of March 2025 with The Headies Stakeholders brunch and the nominees’ party.

The curtain raiser will be the awards ceremony which will be held on the 5th of April, 2025.

The Academy has added some activities around this year’s ceremony with the introduction of The Headies Festival which will pack activities showcasing the rich variety of Nigerian music, entertainment, and culture.

The Headies are yet to reveal other details of the ceremony including the nomination list, host, and venue for the award.

It’s also unclear whether the Headies Academy will be sticking to the initial nomination window of April 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.

The announcement of The Headies’ return will come as positive news for the Nigerian music industry where the award has become one of the most prestigious prices since its first edition in 2006.

The 16th edition took place in Atlanta USA which was the second year the award ceremony left the country.

The Executive Producer Ayo Animashahun cited planning costs as the reason the award had to temporarily leave Nigeria.

The award ceremony will be returning to Nigeria for the 17th edition, which is expected to be another highly contested ceremony that will see memorable performances and the celebration of the notable releases in the year in view.
