Benjamin Best Nnanyereugo, popularly known as Killaboi, who has been wanted since 2023 over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Miss Augusta Onuwabhagbe, has been extradited to Nigeria from Doha, Qatar.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed this in a press release issued by its Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Saturday via X, formerly Twitter.

According to Adejobi, the successful extradition of the suspect, who arrived in Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, 19th April 2025, followed coordinated efforts by the Nigerian Police Force, the Federal Ministry of Justice, the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, and Qatari judicial authorities.

The statement noted that the extradition process was initiated by a petition filed by the deceased’s family through their legal representatives on September 29, 2024.

The police disclosed that Killaboi allegedly murdered Onuwabhagbe at his residence located at 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023. The victim was a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect, Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, at his residence located at No. 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on 13th July 2023,” the statement stated.

According to the statement, after committing the crime, the suspect fled the country and released a video online, purporting to confess to the act, a move described by authorities as an attempt to mislead investigators.

The statement noted that, “After committing the crime, he fled Nigeria and later released an online video purporting to confess to the act, a deceptive strategy to derail investigative efforts.”

Tracking the suspect’s movement since he escaped Nigeria, the police disclosed that Killaboi was arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, under the false identity “Kanu Princeton Samuel,” but escaped during a prison break on November 26, 2023.

Further intelligence revealed that the fugitive moved across multiple regions, including West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, using forged identities.

He ultimately settled in Doha, Qatar, where he was eventually arrested and extradited on January 24, 2025, under the name “Toure Abdoulaye.” He had used a fake Guinean passport to secure employment and remain undetected.
