From King Charles to Prince William: DJ Cuppy eyes royal performance

By Juliet Ebirim
Nigerian DJ and philanthropist Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has sparked conversations among fans following her recent encounter with Prince William, the Prince of Wales, during his visit to The Amos Bursary.
The meeting, which attracted attention on social media, has prompted playful speculation about which of the disc jockey’s songs the British royal might listen to after reportedly expressing interest in her music.
During their chat, Prince William told her he would check out her music, prompting Cuppy to playfully joke on social media: “…Now, Your Royal Highness, about that DJ gig…”
Cuppy serves as the youngest patron of The Amos Bursary, an initiative that supports high-achieving young people of African and Caribbean heritage from disadvantaged backgrounds through education and into employment.
Her latest royal encounter follows an invitation to Buckingham Palace in 2024, where she met King Charles III to discuss her work as an ambassador and the role education has played in her life. She was subsequently appointed the first King’s Trust International Ambassador.
Cuppy has continued to balance her entertainment career with advocacy for education and opportunities for young people in Nigeria, across Africa and in the United Kingdom.
The entertainer has been involved in charitable initiatives through the Cuppy Foundation, working with organisations including Save the Children and the United Nations on efforts to support vulnerable children.
