‘Forgive me’ — Yinka Alaseyori apologises over remarks on Oyo abduction

By Enitan Abdultawab

Gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has apologised to Nigerians who felt offended by her recent comments on the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

In a video shared on Instagram Wednesday, the singer expressed regret over the backlash that followed her earlier remarks, saying she never intended to make anyone feel unheard or dismissed.

According to Alaseyori, she discovered that many Nigerians were unhappy with her comments and felt that their concerns over the plight of the abducted victims were not being taken seriously.

“I did a video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching on government, parastatals and every agency. But when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices are unheard,” she said.

The singer pleaded for forgiveness, particularly from mothers and families affected by the incident, insisting that she would never deliberately disregard their pain.

“You know me too well that I would never make you feel like that. Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God’s name. Please, forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon and forgive me,” she added.

Alaseyori had earlier said that Nigerians need to keep praying over recent insecurity issues, stressing that the government is doing all it can to ensure that peace is restored.

The kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has continued to generate concern among Nigerians, with many calling for intensified efforts to secure the release of the victims.
