The Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) under the leadership of Maj. Gen. AB Abubakar has said that the welfare of soldiers is a top priority of the Military High Command.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters, Theatre Command, Operation Hadin Kai, in a statement said the theatre commander spoke during an operational assessment to Sector 2 OPHK area of responsibility to further build the resilience and fighting spirit of the troops in Sector 2 Damaturu, 233 Battalion Damaturu, 159 Battalion Geidam and Forward Operations bases Bukharti, Kanama, Babbangida and Kukurata.

According to the statement, the visit was to assess troops’ feeding, well-being and directly interact with them to attend to their immediate challenges.

The commander commended the troops for their resilience and determination, urging them to remain disciplined, maintain aggressive posture and sustain offensive operations to completely defeat the terrorists and return total normalcy to the North-East region.

The commander further relayed the message of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen OO Oluyede, that any soldier who performed exceptionally well in the line of duty will be recognised and encouraged accordingly.

He equally charged the troops to adhere to the Armed Forces of Nigeria Policy on the use of social media, and follow the appropriate channels of expressing their concerns to the military higher authorities.

“As part of the activities during the visit, the TC commissioned new and renovated projects, including Sector 2 Main Repair Group Vehicle Bay. He also visited and toured the Army Logistics Base 3, Level II Field Hospital Damaturu, as well as troops’ deployments, critical combat enablers and other facilities,” the statement said

One of the highlights of the visit was the decoration of Inspector MD Yusuf, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent II of Police. Other highlights included presentation of briefs, exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.

The Theatre Commander was accompanied on the visit by the Acting Commander Sector 2 OPHK, Brigadier General Beyedi Martins, commandant Nigerian Army Special Forces School, component commanders, supporting commanders of Sector 2 and staff officers of Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK.
