Man Utd ‘register interest’ in £100m-rated England star

Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest battles for possession with Casemiro of Man Utd during the Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United at City Ground on November 01, 2025 in Nottingham, England.

Man Utd are reportedly “keen” on signing England star Elliot Anderson from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder has been widely praised for his performances this season despite a disappointing start to the campaign for the club.

Anderson has also been tipped to a play a major role for England at next summer’s World Cup after making his debut for the Three Lions in September. He put in man of the match displays against Andorra and Serbia and started both of last month’s games against Wales and Latvia.

The 22-year-old’s rise has seen the biggest clubs in the country take notice, with both Chelsea and Manchester City linked with a move.

Man Utd have also been mentioned as a potential destination for the rising star, with Florian Plettenberg claiming they “remain keen” on and have “registered concrete interest” in the player.

Forest have been “informed” of their interest, but would hold out for a transfer fee in the region of £100-120 million.

United are evidently looking at midfield as the next area of Ruben Amorim’s squad to improve in the transfer market. The club were this week linked with Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher and Angelo Stiller of Stuttgart, while they are also interested in Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle United in 2024 for £34 million, a move precipitated by the Magpies’ PSR concerns at the time. He could now fetch the Tricky Trees three times that amount if he were to leave the City Ground in the next year.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe last month admitted he felt regret at selling the youngster.

“I am very pleased for him personally and his family, just knowing what a great lad he is and how hard he has worked on his game,” he said. “But you see how well he plays and that’s where the mixed feelings come in, there is a regret that it is not for us.

“He is outstanding on the ball and a great technician. I love how brave he is. I hope his career continues to go from strength to strength.”
