Liverpool to lose out on mega Salah transfer fee as interest rises

Mo Salah of Liverpool arrives at the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Leeds United and Liverpool at Elland Road on December 06, 2025 in Leeds, England.

Liverpool may miss out on a huge transfer fee for Mo Salah even as interest from the Saudi Pro League has risen.

The Egyptian winger’s time at Anfield may come to an end in January after going nuclear with his comments on Sunday following the Reds’ 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Salah, who only signed a new two-year deal in April, said he was “very, very disappointed” to have been benched for the third match in a row.

“I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far I am on the bench for three games so I can’t say they keep the promise,” he told reporters.

“I said many times before that, I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship.

“I don’t know why but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”

On Monday evening, Liverpool manager Arne Slot said he did not know if Salah had played his last game for the club.

“I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this point in time,” he said. “I am a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player. I can leave it with that I think.”

Salah resumed training on Monday but has not travelled with the squad to Milan for the Champions League clash with Inter, fuelling speculation over his future at the club.

Saudi Pro League interest in the 33 year old has reemerged as clubs “circling around” him and are ready to make him one of the best earners in the league, according to CBS Sports.

However, they are “not prepared to offer Liverpool terms anything like the enormous nine-figure deal the Reds rejected in the summer of 2023”. Liverpool rejected a £150m transfer bid from Al-Ittihad over two years ago.

Meanwhile, Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that Salah has offered himself to three clubs: Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
