Adamawa revises 2025 budget to accommodate NYSC camp, other new projects
The Adamawa State Government has approved a N22.8 billion virement in the revised 2025 budget as it targets key new projects, including a camping complex for members of the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC.
The State Executive Council, SEC, which held its regular meeting on Wednesday, approved the external virement within the same 2025 budget envelope of N486.2 billion to pave way for fresh allocations to priority projects and government operations.
The Stare Commissioner of Budget, Mr Emmanuel Pridimso told correspondents shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri that N8 billion of the N22.8 billion virement is earmarked for recurrent expenditure to cater for overheads after exhaustion of overhead allocations in most ministries due to rising operational costs.
He said N14.8 billion is allocated to capital projects, including the construction of the new NYSC orientation camp at a cost of N2.04 billion.
The construction and upgrade of the State Amusement Park to modern standards at N3.4 billion, the 24-kilometre Maiha–Mubi Road at N3 billion, and a new 5-kilometre Mubi bypass road linking to the cattle market at N1.2 billion are other capital projects proposed for in the revised budget.
Also speaking after the day’s SEC meeting, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Neido Geoffrey, disclosed that the Council deliberated on the recent repatriation of 13 trafficked children from Adamawa who were rescued in Anambra State.
She said the council cautioned parents and caregivers to monitor their children and avoid sending them on errands at odd hours.
