WCQ 2026: South Africa’s Broos insists focus is on Lesotho, not Super Eagles

South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has said he is not yet thinking about their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Broos’ men are currently top of Group D, six points clear of the Super Eagles.

The two teams will meet next Tuesday in Bloemfontein.

The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw, when Finidi George was still Nigeria’s head coach.

Before that encounter, however, South Africa will play Lesotho.

“The game next Friday is about a week away and I don’t want to think about Nigeria for the moment,” Broos told reporters.

“We will see after the game with Lesotho who and how we are going to play against Nigeria.

“My focus is on Lesotho because I know that is the most important game for the moment.”
