Tunisia head coach, Kamel Saada, believes his side can pull off a surprise against the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Les Aigles de Carthage will take on Nigeria in their opening fixture of the competition in Casablanca on Sunday,6 July.

The Super Falcons are the most successful side in the history of the competition with nine titles.

Justine Madugu’s side are the overwhelming favourites to top Group B which also have Botswana, and Algeria.

Tunisia made a positive impact at the last edition of the WAFCON making it to the knockout round.

Saada is aware of the quality of opposition in their group but stated that they can make a positive impact.

“It’s a tough group. Everyone knows the quality of Nigeria. Algeria is improving fast. Botswana too. We’re not underestimating anyone, ” Saada told CAF’s official website.

“We’ll need to be disciplined, focused, and play our best football. The team that plays smart, cohesive football can pull off surprises. We’re preparing for that seriously.”

Morocco will host the WAFCON 2024 finals from Saturday, 5 July to Saturday,  26 July, 2025.

12 countries will participate in the competition.

Banyana Banyana of South Africa are the current holders of the tournament.
