Unity Cup: Why we lost to Super Eagles – Black Stars coach, Addo
Black Stars of Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, has offered an explanation for his team’s loss to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Addo’s side lost 2-1 to their perennial rivals in the semi-final of the Unity Cup contest at the Gtech Community Stadium, London, on Wednesday night.
Nigeria made a strong start and scored through Cyriel Dessers and Semi Ajayi.
Substitute Thomas Asante reduced the deficit for Ghana 20 minutes from time.
The Black Stars were without several of their top stars in the competition.
Otto claimed that his players took time to settle into the game.
“It’s not always easy, especially when we have players who haven’t played together often,” Otto said after the game.
“Nigeria has a more mature team that adapted quicker. We struggled to press, engage in duels, and maintain our defensive structure.”
