Transfer: ‘You’ll never play for Barcelona again’ – Matthäus informs Ter Stegen
Former Bayern Munich star, Lothar Matthäus, has told Marc-Andre ter Stegen to leave Barcelona.
He said this would be the only guarantee that the goalkeeper would make it to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He believes that Barcelona boss, Hansi Flick no longer wants the German in his team.
Matthäus told BILD that he understands why Ter Stegen wants to stay at the club and fight for his place.
However, the former Bayern Munich star believes it is ideal for the Germany international to find a new club.
He said, “In my opinion, Ter Stegen will not play for Barcelona again.
“He needs to play to achieve his dream of participating in the World Cup; if he wants to play in the World Cup, he should leave.
“There is nothing and nobody bigger than the club.”
The LaLiga champions have already signed Espanyol goalkeeper, Joan Garcia.
The Catalans have also retained the services of Wojciech Szczęsny in a new two-year deal.
