Transfer: Man Utd to get compensation from Benfica if Carreras joins Real Madrid
Manchester United will get some compensation from Benfica if Alvaro Carreras joins Real Madrid this summer transfer window, Marca reports.
Carreras left Man United to join Benfica on a permanent transfer last year.
However, Real Madrid wants to announce the signing of the left-back after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup ends this weekend.
Both Madrid and Benfica are closing in on the agreement for the 22-year-old.
Carreras was among the three players former Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti wanted to sign for the Los Blancos before his departure from the club following the conclusion of last season.
Carreras first joined Real Madrid when he was 14 from Deportivo La Coruna.
He left the Spanish La Liga giants to join Manchester United in 2020 but he never made a senior appearance for the Red Devils before he ultimately left Old Trafford in 2024.
But following an unsuccessful loan spell at Granada, Carreras’ career finally took off when he moved to Benfica from Man United.
