Manchester City have opened talks to sign 18-year-old defender, Vitor Reis from Palmeiras this January transfer window.

The Premier League champions are keen to bolster manager, Pep Guardiola’s defence in the second half of the season.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Man City are in pole position to land the center-back ahead of Brighton and other clubs.

Romano added that City have proposed an initial deal worth around €40m package for Reis.

“Manchester City mission for Vitor Reis, ongoing in Brazil. Even today and in the next hours/days,” Romano wrote on X.

“18 year old Brazilian centre back is key target after Brighton and more clubs had bids rejected.

“Man City are working on it strong, €40m package. Talks on. Deal on. ”

Reis has been with Palmeiras since 2016, when he was picked up at the age of 10.

He broke into the first team last year and has been impressive so far.

Reis would definitely be a boost for Guardiola’s side, who currently sit in the 6th position on the Premier League table with 34 points from 20 games.
